HC To Hear Plea By Ex-CM Of Haryana OP Chautala Against Conviction In Disproportionate Assets Case
The Delhi High Court will hear on Monday a plea by former Haryana Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala against his conviction and four years imprisonment in a disproportionate assets case.
The high court had earlier this month called for jail records of Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) leader Chautala (87) to decide the issue of his release pending appeal.
Justice Yogesh Khanna had also issued notice to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Chautala's appeal against the conviction and sentence as well as his plea to suspend the sentence awarded by the trial court.
The CBI had registered the case in 2000 and chargesheet was filed on March 26, 2010, alleging that between 1993 and 2006, he acquired assets disproportionate to his legitimate source of income.
