PM Modi To Inaugurate 'Aadi Mahotsav'

As part of efforts to showcase tribal culture on a large scale, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the massive national tribal festival known as "Aadi Mahotsav" on Thursday. The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) noted Modi's leadership in promoting the welfare of the tribal population and recognizing their significance to the country's growth and development.

The Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation Limited (TRIFED), which falls under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, organizes an annual event called the Aadi Mahotsav to honour the spirit of tribal culture, crafts, cuisine, commerce, and traditional art.

According to a statement, it will be held in Delhi's Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium from February 16 to 27 this year.

Over 200 stalls will be set up at the venue to show off the diverse and rich heritage of tribes from all over the country.

The exercise will involve around 1,000 tribal artisans.

The statement added that because 2023 is being commemorated as the International Year of Millets, a special emphasis will be placed on showcasing "Shree Anna," a new government term for millets grown by tribals, in addition to the usual attractions of handicrafts, handlooms, pottery, and jewellery.
