Mahatma Gandhi's Granddaughter Visits Farmers' Protest Site In Ghazipur

Mahatma Gandhi's granddaughter Tara Gandhi Bhattacharjee on Saturday visited Ghazipur on the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border to extend support to the farmers' movement against the Centre's contentious farm laws, according to a BKU statement.


We are because of you all. In the benefit of farmers lies the benefit of the country and all of us.She recalled that the first fight for independence from the British rule in 1857 had also started from Meerut in western Uttar Pradesh.


"I want that whatever happens, farmers should be benefitted by it. Nobody is unaware of the hard work that the farmers do and it is not to be said again that in the benefit of farmers lies the benefit of our country, and all of us," she said.

Delhi Violence Aimed At Discrediting Farmers' Stir: Sharad Pawar

In a veiled attack on the BJP, NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Saturday cited "complaints" to claim that people close to the ruling party were associated with the January 26 violence during a tractor rally in New Delhi, which he said was aimed at "discrediting" the stir.


"Farmers from Haryana, Punjab and UP have been protesting peacefully (at Delhi borders). No farmer took law into hands. One incident (of January 26) happened to discredit the ongoing agitation. Farmers were not involved. As per complaints, those associated with the violence were close to the ruling party," he alleged.

Second dose vaccination started today for the beneficiaries who have completed 28 days after receiving the first dose of vaccine. Till 6pm today, a total of 80,52,454 vaccinations have been carried out.


Deaths reported so far in cases where vaccination has been conducted to date is 27. There are 3 deaths reported in the past 24 hours who had taken vaccination at some point in time in the recent past.


No case of serious or severe Adverse event following immunization (AEFI) or death has been attributable to vaccination till date.

1st Phase Of Budget Session Ends, LS Adjourned Till March 8

The first phase of Budget Session concluded on Saturday with the Lok Sabha announcing adjournment of the House till March 8 after day-long proceedings.

Delhi Police Chief Reviews Arrangements At Border Points In View Of Farmers' Protest

Delhi Police Commissioner S N Shrivastava on Saturday reviewed the law and order situation and arrangements at various borders points of the national capital in view of the agitation by farmers protesting the three agri laws, officials said.


During the crime review meeting held with senior officers of the force, the police chief also took stock of action taken against criminals involved in burglary, and other cases related to Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), Excise Act and gambling, they said.

Earthquake of high magnitude jolted parts of Delhi-NCR and the neighbouring region on late Friday evening. Strong tremors were felt across the upper North India regions including Jammu, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand.


As per initial reports of the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake was termed 6.1 on the Richter scale and the epicenter was stated at Amritsar, Punjab. However, NCS later revised its statement informing Tajikistan to be the epicenter of the earthquake. NCS also mentioned that the earthquake was of 6.3 magnitude on the Richter scale.
