PM Modi To Inaugurate First Section Of Delhi-Mumbai Expressway


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the 246-km Delhi-Dausa-Lalsot section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway on Sunday, with the new stretch set to reduce the travel time from the national capital to Jaipur from five hours to around three and a half hours. Developed at a cost of over Rs 12,150 crore, this first completed section of the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will provide a major boost to the economic development of the entire region, PMO said.


The PMO said Modi's emphasis on the building of excellent road infrastructure as an engine of growth, development and connectivity in "New India" is being realised by the construction of a number of ongoing world class expressways across the country.


The Delhi-Mumbai Expressway will be the India's longest with the length of 1,386 km. It will reduce travel distance between Delhi and Mumbai by 12 per cent, from 1,424 km to 1,242 km, while the travel time will be cut by 50 per cent, from the current 24 hours to 12 hours, it said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate year-long celebrations commemorating the 200th birth anniversary of social reformer and Arya Samaj founder Dayanand Saraswati in New Delhi. Born in 1824, Saraswati worked to counter the then prevalent social inequities. Arya Samaj has played a key role in cultural and social awakening of the country by its emphasis on social reforms and education, the PMO said.


The government has been committed to celebrating social reformers and important personalities, especially those whose contributions were not given their due yet on a pan-India scale, PMO statement added.


JP Nadda To Visit West Bengal, Address Two Rallies Today


BJP president JP Nadda will address two rallies in West Bengal on Sunday as his party prepares for the panchayat elections. This will be Nadda's second visit to the state in a month. He visited West Bengal on January 19.


“On Sunday, he will address a public meeting at Purbasthali in Purba Bardhaman, and then another at Kanthi in Purba Medinipur," BJP state general secretary Jagannath Chattopadhyay said. Nadda will also hold an organisational meeting with state BJP leaders.


Nadda's programmes are part of the BJP central leadership's 'Pravas' campaign to strengthen its organisation in 144 Lok Sabha seats in the country that the party had lost by a slender margin in the 2019 elections.
