Priyanka Gandhi At Kisan Mahapanchayat Rally In Saharanpur

In a Kisan Mahapanchayat rally in Saharanpur, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra went on the offensive as she attacked the present government at hand and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Congress General Secretary said that PM Modi's heart beats only for capitalists. "Inside the 56-inch chest, there is only a small heart which beats for few capitalists," Priyanka said while taking a jibe at PM Modi. "Congress will scrap new farm laws if voted to power," Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also said at the rally in UP's Saharanpur.


 

Amid the agitation against the Agri laws, Congress on Wednesday launched its outreach campaign in Uttar Pradesh with Priyanka Gandhi at the forefront.

The Prime Minister Office in a statement earlier today informed that PM Narendra Modi will reply to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address at 4 pm in Lok Sabha on Wednesday afternoon. 

Jagan Mohan Reddy Backed Candidates Win Big In 1st Phase

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led YSR Congress Party managed to win 2,319 seats so far while the Bharatiya Janata Party and Telugu Desam Party supporters failed miserably. As many as 7,506 candidates were in the fray for sarpanch posts while 43,601 contested for ward members.

Results declared For 292 out of 296 sarpanch posts

As per the latest data available, results for 292 out of 296 sarpanch posts have been declared which went for polling in the first phase of gram panchayat elections in Anakapalle revenue division in Visakhapatnam district of Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday.


Besides, Panchayat, elections were also held to elect 20,157 ward members, of which, 3,249 panchayats went for polling in the first phase. Media reports suggest that 525 had already been unanimously elected and no nomination was filed for a village in Nellore district.


 

YSRC Supporters Ahead Of TDP, BJP

The counting of votes is underway and results for all the seats is likely to be announced today. The early trends show YSRC supporters made a near-clean sweep capturing majority of the seats in most of the 12 districts. As per the latest data available, YCP has won 2319 seats so far, TDP 44, BJP and its local allies 31 and other including independents have won on 56 seats.

Uttarakhand Tragedy: 32 dead, rescue operation on to recover those trapped in Tapovan tunnel

Rescue operation are on in full swing to recover those trapped in the Tapovan tunnel in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. So far, 32 bodies have been recovered in the region, with over 170 people still missing. 


The flash floods in the Alaknanda river system caused widespread destruction. Apart from the loss of life and cattle, NTPC's Tapovan-Vishnugad hydropower project and the Rishiganga Hydel Project faced heavy damage. 

Uttar Pradesh: Liquor Mafia Attack Cops During Raid; Constable Dead, Another Injured

A police constable was killed while a sub-inspector was injured after goons attacked the cops during a raid at an illegal liquor factory in Kasganj area of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The cops had gone to raid the area on Tuesday evening over a tip-off over illegal liquor when some miscreants captured the personnel and attacked them with sticks. According the early media reports, the deceased constable has been identified as Devendra while the SI has been identified as Ashok Kumar.

In another major development, the counting of votes for the first phase of polling for 2,723 panchayats in Andhra Pradesh is underway. The counting of votes commenced at 4 pm yesterday and results for all the seats is likely to be announced today. The State Election Commission said the first phase of polling in the state ended peacefully with 81.78 per cent turnout on Tuesday. The SEC, however, did not provide the total number of eligible voters.
