Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announces an extra reservation of 6 per cent for most backward castes of the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category.
"In addition to 21 per cent reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) in Rajasthan, six per cent additional reservation will also be given now, which will be reserved for the most backward castes of the OBC category," tweets Gehlot.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu, along with 14 others have been named in an FIR in connection with recent clashes in Tamballapalle constituency at Mudiveedu PS in Annamayya district.

Notorious ‘listed terrorist’ Arshdeep Dala of Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF), who was chargesheeted by NIA on 22nd July, is one of the seven NIA absconders declared Proclaimed Offender today, says NIA, ANI reported.

Four people including a couple were killed by apple-laden trucks in two separate road accidents in Shimla, police said on Wednesday, as reported by news agency PTI. Mohan Negi and his wife Asha Negi were crushed to death by an apple laden truck that went out of control and fell over a vehicle in Chaila area of Shimla district, police said.
The incident happened Tuesday evening when the truck from Narkanda was going outside the state taking the Rajgarh-Solan road. The truck, reportedly by mistake, veered towards Chaila market instead of the Sainj Rajgarh road and went out of control, hit four vehicles, turned turtle, and crushed the couple.
Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal expressed gratitude towards Congress for extending their support against the Delhi Services bill. The bill was passed in Rajya Sabha on Monday. In a letter to Rahul Gandhi, Kejriwal wrote, "I would like to place on record the heartfelt appreciation for

Three people were killed while another is missing after their car fell into a deep gorge in Pauri district in Uttarakhand, an official said on Wednesday, as reported by news agency PTI. The accident took place on Tuesday night at Gumkhal, State Disaster Response Force official Praveen Rathi, who is leading the rescue operation which is still underway at the spot, told PTI.
SDRF personnel rushed to the spot after the accident and launched the rescue operation. The team brought out three bodies from the gorge to the main road with the help of rope stretchers, Rathi said.
However, another person is still missing, he said. The four were returning from Gumkhal market to their village Devdali located in Jaiharikhal area when the accident took place, he said.

United Naga Council To Hold Massive Rallies Today
The powerful United Naga Council (UNC) will hold massive rallies in Naga-inhabited areas in Manipur today. The rally has been called to press for successfully concluding the peace talks with the Centre based on the Framework Agreement. According to the statement released by the Naga body, the rallies will be held in the district headquarters of Tamenglong, Senapati, Ukhrul and Chandel districts from 10 am.
The UNC has appealed to all Nagas to participate in the rallies in large numbers.
'Meri Maati Mera Desh' Campaign To Be Launched
A 21-day nationwide campaign, ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’, will be launched Today. It is being held to mark the conclusion of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' (AKAM) and pay tributes to the bravehearts who laid down their lives for the country, the Culture Ministry said in a press release.
The campaign will observe various programmes at village, block, state and national levels from August 9 to 30. The closing ceremony will be held at Kartavya Path in the presence of various dignitaries, the ministry said in its statement.
To encourage mass participation in the yatra, a website has also been launched where people can upload selfies carrying soil or earthen lamps. By doing so, they will take the pledge of ‘Panch Pran’. Once the pledge is taken, a digital certificate of participation can be downloaded from the website.
No Honking Day In Mumbai
In order to check noise pollution and bring some respite from the regular and loud honking on the streets of Mumbai, the traffic police will observe 'No Honking Day' today. It will also be observed on August 16.
Sharing a press release on Twitter and the norms to be followed, the Mumbai Traffic Police wrote "Mumbai will be observing No Honking Day on 9th August (Wednesday) & 16th August in an attempt to reduce the growing trend of unnecessary honking. Honking significantly contributes to noise pollution and health problems."
