Manipur Tribal Body ITLF To Meet Home Minister Amit Shah Today

A conglomerate of tribals in Manipur will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah here on Tuesday and raise their five key demands, including a separate political administration and a mass burial in the Churachandpur district of the Kuki-Zo community members killed in the ethnic violence since May 3.

A five-member delegation of the Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) will hold talks with the home minister and place the demands, ITLF secretary Muan Tombing told news agency PTI over phone from Aizawl. 

Haryana Congress Delegation To Visit Clash-Hit Nuh

A delegation of senior Haryana Congress leaders led by party's state unit chief Udai Bhan plan to visit Nuh district on Tuesday.  The party said the purpose of the visit is to re-establish peace and brotherhood in the area, hit by communal violence.  Six people, including two home guards and a cleric, were killed after communal clashes broke out in Nuh when some people allegedly pelted stones on a Vishva Hindu Parishad procession on July 31. The violence also spread to neighbouring  Gurugram.  

A delegation of senior party leaders led by Haryana Congress president Chaudhary Udai Bhan will visit Nuh on Tuesday where it will meet the violence-affected victims and the people of the of the area a statement issued by the party's state unit said on Monday.  

Former Haryana chief minister and Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Bhupinder Singh Hooda will be part of the delegation, it said. The purpose of this visit is to re-establish peace and brotherhood in the area and find out the truth, it said.

Independence Day Celebrations To Kickstart In Assam From Today

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday said celebrations for the forthcoming Independence Day will begin from August 8 with village-level programmes.Sarma said freedom fighters and martyrs in security forces will be remembered by installing granite plaques in every village on the first day.From August 9-14, every gaon panchayat will plant 75 saplings to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, he said.

No Air Travel, Star Hotels For Chandigarh Officers Visiting Delhi

Officers of Chandigarh Administration travelling to Delhi would travel by Shatabdi and Vande Bharat trains, no air travel allowed. The officials will stay at UT guest house, Punjab Bhawan or Haryana Bhawan, not in hotels: Administrator of Union Territory of Chandigarh, ANI reported.

Massive Drug Bust: Bathinda Police Seize Four Kilograms Of Heroin, Arrest Two Smugglers

Punjab's Bathinda police on Tuesday achieved a major breakthrough. Law enforcement officials successfully intercepted and apprehended two smugglers transporting four kilograms of heroin believed to be en route from Firozpur. Bathinda's Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Gulneet Singh Khurana, confirmed that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the arrested individuals in connection with the seizure.
