UP CM Adityanath imposes ban on meat, liquor trade in Mathura

Mathura (PTI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday imposed a complete ban on the sale of liquor and meat in Mathura.


The officers concerned are directed to make plans for the ban as well as for the engagement of people involved in such activities in some other trade, he said.


The chief minister was speaking at the Krishnotsava 2021 programme here.


He suggested that those engaged in liquor and meat trade may take up selling milk in order to revive the glory of Mathura, that was known for producing huge quantity of animal milk.


Adityanath also prayed to Lord Krishna to eliminate the novel coronavirus infection.


Every effort will be made to develop Brij Bhumi and there will be no dearth of funds for this. We are looking at a blend of modern technology and the cultural and spiritual heritage for the development of the region, he said.


The priest-turned-politician also complimented Prime Minister Narendra Modi for giving a new direction to the country.


He said places of faith neglected since long are being revived now.


Cabinet ministers Laxmi Narain Chaudhary and Shrikant Sharma were also present on the occasion.

The Himachal Pradesh government has claimed cent per cent completion of inoculation of the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine in the state.


State health minister Dr. Rajiv Saizal said that on Saturday, Himachal Pradesh became the first state in the country to complete administering the first dose of COVID-19 vaccine for the 18-plus age group.


Dr. Saizal, speaking to ANI, said, "The state has completed 100 per cent first dose vaccinations in the 18 plus age group and it aims to complete 100 per cent vaccination of both the doses by November 30, 2021."


"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appreciated the efforts of the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh for Covid-19 management and also in the field of vaccination. The state has been doing well right from the beginning," he said.

Breaking News HIGHLIGHTS, August 30, 2021: Kerala on Sunday reported 29,836 new Covid-19 cases, a marginal drop from over 30,000 cases the state had been recording for four consecutive days, taking the state’s total confirmed cases to 4,007,408. Over the course of one week ending on Sunday, the state reported over 1,90,000 cases and over 1,000 deaths.


As many as 22,088 people recovered from Covid infection since Saturday, taking the total recoveries to 37,73,754 and the number of active cases to 2,12,566, according to a bulletin released today by the state government.


With 75 Covid-related deaths over the past 24 hours, the death toll reached 20,541, as per the release. The daily test positivity rate (TPR) was recorded at 19.67 per cent.


Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan announced on Friday that the government will convene a meeting with experts on September 1 to assess the current situation and its features to formulate a way forward.


President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday wished people on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami, which celebrates the birth of Lord Krishna.
