Uttarakhand Governor Baby Rani Maurya on Wednesday submitted her resignation to President Ram Nath Kovind, news agency ANI quoted Governor's Secretary BK Sant as saying.
Baby Rani Maurya, 64, was appointed the governor of Uttarakhand in August 2018. She had earlier served as the Mayor of Agra in Uttar Pradesh.

U.S. President Joe Biden said on Tuesday he was certain China would try to work out an arrangement with the Taliban after the Islamic insurgents seized power in Afghanistan on Aug. 15, reports Reuters.
Asked if he was worried that China would fund the group, which is sanctioned under U.S. law, Biden told reporters, "China has a real problem with the Taliban. So they're going to try to work out some arrangement with the Taliban, I'm sure. As does Pakistan, as does Russia, as does Iran. They're all trying to figure out what do they do now."
The United States and its Group of Seven allies have agreed to coordinate their response to the Taliban, and Washington has blocked the Taliban's access to Afghanistan's reserves, most of which are held by the New York Federal Reserve, to ensure they live up to their pledges to respect women's rights and international law.
The Taliban announced their government on Tuesday and Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund — a senior minister during the Taliban’s brutal and repressive reign in the 1990s — was appointed acting prime minister, a spokesman said at a press conference in Kabul. Breaking News LIVE, September 8, 2021: After the Taliban announced its government in Afghanistan, US President Joe Biden said on Tuesday he was certain China would try to work out an arrangement with the Taliban after they seized power in Afghanistan on August 15.

The Taliban on Monday officially announced names for key positions in the new caretaker government in Afghanistan and said Mullah Muhammad Hassan Akhund will be the leader of the council minister and militant group’s co-founder Abdul Ghani Baradar will be the deputy leader of the country. The announcement comes 72 hours after Pakistan’s ISI Chief Lt Gen Faiz Hameed arrived in Kabul to meet the senior leadership of the Taliban, which was struggling to form a government in the war-ravaged country.

The banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has warned the country's media and journalists against calling them a "terrorist outfit" or they will be treated as "enemies".
TTP spokesman Mohammad Khurasani, in a statement on social media on Monday, said his organisation was tracking media coverage which branded the TTP with epithets such as "terrorists and extremists".
"Using such terms for TTP showed a partisan role of media and journalists," the Dawn newspaper quoted the online statement by the TTP.
"Such labels on the TTP meant the media professionals were dishonest towards their duty and would create enemies for itself," Mohammad Khurasani said.
