Dinesh Trivedi, who had resigned from his Rajya Sabha seat in February this year is set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Trivedi had resigned saying he felt suffocated in the party which is "no longer in hands of" its supremo Mamata Banerjee. Aftershocks of 6.4 Magnitude recorded in New Zealand

Earthquakes continued to rock New Zealand’s North Island on Saturday with the US Geological Survey recording a magnitude 6.4 shock the day after a Pacific-wide tsunami alert sparked by a monster quake.


There have been no reports of serious damage or injury from the quakes, nor from a host of smaller tremors, which were centred offshore from the eastern city of Gisborne.

Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have reported a high number of COVID daily new cases. They cumulatively account for 82% of the new cases reported in the past 24 hours. Maharashtra has reported 10,216 new cases, followed by Kerala with 2,776, according to the Health  Ministry

PM Modi to address Combined Commanders' Conference shortly

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the top commanders of the three defence forces at the Combined Commanders' Conference at Kevadia in Gujarat today. The Commanders' Conference is attended by the Commander-in-Chief rank officers of the three services and the tri-services organisations such as the Integrated Defence Staff Headquarters, Strategic Forces Command and the Port Blair-based Andaman and Nicobar Command.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari returned the 'outsider' swipe at West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress candidate from Nandigram Mamata Banerjee. "We want the son of Midnapore, not outsiders. We will see you on the battlefield. On 2nd May, you will lose and leave," he said, according to news agency ANI. Nandigram falls under the East Midnapore district.

He will be addressing such a conference for the first time in his career and as part of it, is expected to give directions to the defence forces for being prepared for the challenges in the future.


Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Suvendu Adhikari returned the 'outsider' swipe at West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress candidate from Nandigram Mamata Banerjee. "Honourable chief minister will contest from Nandigram as per the candidate list. Very good, it is welcomed," Adhikari said during a rally in Midnapore, adding that the people of Nandigram should raise their voices against this.


Taapsee Pannu, whose property was raided by the Income Tax Department's officials earlier this week, has broken her silence on Twitter. She addressed the allegations made against her and even cracked a joke.


Taapsee said that there is no bungalow in her name in Paris, or receipts of 5 crore payment to her. She even said that there was no raid in 2013 on her property either.


In the final test of India vs England, Sundar and Axar have dominated the first hour of the opening session with ease. England bowling are toiling hard to get rid of the duo but failed to do so. Sundar batting on 86, while Axar is unbeaten on 34 runs.
