Sri Lanka releases 15 Indian fishermen days after President Wickremesinghe's visit to India

As many as 15 Tamil Nadu fishermen released by Sri Lanka arrived here on Thursday from Colombo, officials said. The fishermen were arrested recently by the neighbouring country for alleged poaching and they were lodged in a prison. Transport arrangements were made and the fishermen were sent home on their arrival at the airport here, officials added. The release of the fishermen comes days after Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe's official visit to India.

The Calcutta High Court has directed the West Bengal Police to issue a public notice on the regulation of timings for the beating of drums on the occasion of Muharram on Saturday, July 29. The court has also directed West Bengal Pollution Control Board to issue a public notice, regulating the noise levels regarding the permissible levels.





 



Delhi Hit And Drag Case: Delhi Court Charges Accused With Murder, Negligent Driving

A Delhi court has charged accused Manoj Mittal, Amit Khanna, Krishan and Mithun under IPC sections 302 (murder), 201 (Destruction of evidence), 212 (harbouring offender), 120B (Criminal Conspiracy) in connection with the Kanjhawala hit and drag case. Accused Deepak, Ashutosh and Ankush charged with 201, 212, 182, 34 IPC by the court. These three have been discharged from section 120B IPC. Amit has been charged with the section of Negligence Driving.

The Congress has issued a three-line whip for its Rajya Sabha MPs asking them to be present on Thursday as "very important issues will be taken up for discussion". On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Rajasthan and Gujarat and will also release around Rs 17,000 crore as the 14th instalment to about 8.5 crore farmer beneficiaries under the PM-KISAN scheme.


Congress Issues Whip For Rajya Sabha MPs 


The Congress has issued a three-line whip for its Rajya Sabha MPs asking them to be present in the House as as "very important issues will be taken up for discussion". The move comes amid the government planning to soon introduce a bill to replace the services ordinance. The Union Cabinet is learnt to have given its nod on Tuesday to the bill that will replace the ordinance promulgated for the creation of an authority for transfers and postings of Group-A officers in Delhi, as per a PTI report. 


"All members of the Congress Party in the Rajya Sabha are requested to kindly remain present in the House from 11 am onwards till the adjournment of the House on Thursday, July 27, 2023, without fail and support the party stand," the whip said.


PM Modi To Visit Rajasthan, Gujarat


Prime Minster Narendra Modi will on Thursday be on a two-day visit to Rajasthan and Gujarat.


On Thursday, Modi will reach Rajasthan’s Sikar where he will lay the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation various development projects in a public programme. He will then reach Rajkot where he will undertake a walk at the international airport and thereafter inaugurate various development projects. On Friday, the Prime Minister will inaugurate SemiconIndian 2023 at Mahatma Mandir in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar. 


PM To Release Rs 17,000 Crore To 8.5 Crore PM-KISAN Beneficiaries


On Thursday, the Prime Minister will release around Rs 17,000 crore as the 14th instalment to about 8.5 crore farmer beneficiaries under the PM-KISAN scheme.The amount will be transferred to the beneficiaries' bank accounts at an event in Sikar, Rajasthan on Thursday, an official statement said.
