Maharashtra Police arrested a Nigerian national and seized mephedrone or MD drug worth around Rs 10 lakh from him, an official said on Saturday. Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Navi Mumbai police laid a trap at a parking spot in Kopar Khairane based on a tip-off and nabbed the accused at around 9 pm.
The accused was identified as a 31-year-old named Nnachor Paul. He was found carrying 100 grams of the MD drug, reported PTI. Following this, he was formally arrested and an offence under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered against him.
Two people on Saturday were travelling in a luxury car in Maharashtra's Thane when their vehicle caught fire. The incident took place around 7:15 am in the Manpada area of the city. The car suddenly caught fire when it was approaching the lobby area of a building. The chief of the Thane Municipal Corporation's Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) while talking to the media said that the two occupants of the vehicle managed to jump out of it in time and both of them are safe.
The fire brigade and RDMC personnel rushed to the spot and doused the fire. But the car had been reduced to ashes by that time, reported PTI.

As many as eight people died and 20 were injured in Tamil Nadu during the early hours of Saturday after a fire broke out on a tourist train parked on the Bodi Line near Madurai railway station. News agency PTI shared a visual from the site on X (formerly known as Twitter). In the shared video, it was seen that a significant portion of a coach of the train was burnt. Fire tenders rushed to the spot and were seen trying to douse the flames.
A video has been doing rounds on social media in which a teacher of a private school in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar was seen instructing her students to slap their fellow Muslim classmate. ANI quoted Superintendent of Police Satyanarayan Prajapat as saying, "A video was received at Mansurpur police station today wherein a woman teacher asked the students of a class to beat their classmate for not learning multiplication tables. Some objectionable comments were also there in the video. After investigating the video, it was found that the teacher was declaring that those Mohammedan students get spoiled whose mothers don’t pay attention to their studies (Jin Mohammedan bachcho ki maa unke padhai par dhyan nahi deti hai, unn bachcho ki padhai ka naash ho jata hai). The person recording the video also confirms this.

Congress Leader Sonia Gandhi To Join Son Rahul In Srinagar On Aug 26
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi will arrive in Srinagar on a two-day "personal visit" on Friday, and will be accompanied by his mother Sonia Gandhi the following day, according to Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Vikar Rasool Wani.
Wani, on the other hand, stated that the two senior leaders will have no political engagements or meetings with party leaders in Srinagar during their "family tour." Rahul has been in the Union Territory of Ladakh for the last week and would leave for Srinagar after addressing a public gathering in Kargil on Friday morning, according to the JKPCC president.
On Saturday, he plans to be accompanied by his mother, Sonia Gandhi.
Rahul arrived visited Ladakh on August 2, his first visit to the province, which was awarded UT status in August 2019 after being separated from Jammu and Kashmir. The former state of Jammu and Kashmir was likewise become a Union Territory, and its unique status under Article 370 was abrogated.
PM Modi To Visit Bengaluru On August 26
On August 26, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bengaluru to congratulate ISRO scientists and officials on the successful landing of Candrayaan-3's lander and deployment of the rover on the moon's surface.
According to senior BJP leader and former Minister R Ashoka, the Karnataka BJP is planning a big welcome for the Prime Minister by holding a major road show in the city upon his arrival.
"PM Narendra Modi is coming on August 26. We will be receiving him in big numbers with more than 6,000 people at HAL airport. There, he might address the people of Bengaluru. Our (BJP) national leader Santosh ji (General Sec B L Santosh) just spoke to me to organise a mega roadshow in Peenya, I have spoken to Dasarahalli MLA Muniraju on this," he was quoted by PTI in its report.
