Breaking LIVE: Taliban Captures Ghazni City, Moves Closer To Kabul

The Taliban have taken the strategic Afghan city of Ghazni just 150 kilometres (95 miles) from Kabul, a senior lawmaker and the insurgents said Thursday.


The city -- the 10th provincial capital to fall to the insurgents in a week -- lies along the major Kabul-Kandahar highway, effectively serving as a gateway between the capital and militant strongholds in the south.


"The Taliban took control of the key areas of the city -- the governor's office, the police headquarters and the prison," Nasir Ahmad Faqiri, head of the provincial council, told AFP.


He added that fighting continued in parts of the city but that the provincial capital was largely in the insurgents' hands.


The Taliban also confirmed capturing the city, according to a statement posted by the insurgency's spokesman on social media.

Breaking LIVE: Helicopter with 16 on board crashes in Russia's far east

 An Mi-8 helicopter with 16 people on board crashed in Russia's Far East region of Kamchatka early on Thursday, the emergency service said, and news agencies reported nine had been found alive and seven were missing.


The helicopter operated by Vityaz-Aero company with 13 passengers and three crew hard-landed near a lake on the south of Kamchatka peninsula, the local emergency service said.

Breaking News, August 12, 2021, LIVE: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in ‘Atmanirbhar Narishakti se Samvad’ and interact with women Self Help Group (SHG) members/community resource persons promoted under the Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM) today at 12.30 PM via video conferencing.


As per the press release from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), during the event today, a compendium of success stories of women SHG members from all across the country, along with a handbook on universalisation of farm livelihoods will also be released by PM Modi.


Thirteen people have died and around 30 are missing after a landslide in Himachal Pradesh's Kinnaur on Wednesday afternoon left several vehicles buried under debris.


A state-run bus, a truck and a few cars were trapped after the landslide blocked the Reckong Peo-Shimla highway. The bus, travelling to Shimla, reportedly had 40 people on board.


On Thursday, India's first Geo-Imaging Satellite (GISAT-1) renamed EOS-03 failed to launch as planned.

The Indian rocket Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV-F10) experienced difficulties with its cryogenic engine, the third and last engine, around seven minutes after launch at 5.43 a.m.

The rocket was unable to communicate with the Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) ground station in Sriharikota.

The mission's failure is announced. “A technical issue was discovered in the cryogenic stage, and the mission could not be completed,” stated K.Sivan, Chairman of Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation.
