Local BJP leader in Delhi Jitu Chaudhary was shot dead in Mayur Vihar phase-3 around 8:15 pm on Wednesday evening. According to Police, the accused is absconding. Few empty cartridges and other important evidence were recovered from the crime scene.
"Search for eyewitnesses and CCTV footage being done," DCP East Priyanka Kashyap told news agency ANI.

Delhi Police Special Commissioner of Police Dependra Pathak said that the situation at the Jahangirpuri area of Delhi, where violence broke out four days ago, is completely normal and under control in the wake of demolition drive carried out by the Municipal Corporation.
"The demolition process has now been stopped and the law and order situation is under control. We're maintaining peace and tranquillity in the area," the Special Commissioner said while speaking to the reporters.
A civic official told news agency PTI, requesting anonymity, that the anti-encroachment drive in Delhi's Jahangirpuri area continued because of the absence of a written order from the Supreme Court. The demolition drive continued for one-and-a-half hours even after the Supreme Court directed authorities to stop it.

A team of Punjab police reached the residence of Kumar Vishwas in Delhi Wednesday morning and interrogated the Former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader.

Delhi Disaster Management Authority To Meet On April 20 Amid Rise In Covid Cases
In light of the recent increase in Covid-19 cases, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) will conduct a meeting on April 20 to examine steps to prevent the spread of coronavirus throughout the city.
The meeting will be attended by Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijlal, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the Director of AIIMS, and members of the Planning Commission.
The mask mandate, as well as a hybrid teaching model for schools, are likely to be considered during the meeting.
According to health department data, Delhi's Covid-19 positive rate increased to 7.72 per cent on Monday, as the city registered 501 new cases, 16 less than the previous day.
“The Delhi Disaster Management Authority’s meeting is scheduled to be held on Wednesday next week under the chairmanship of the Lt Governor. It will discuss the prevailing Covid-19 situation, including the recent rise in the number of cases,” a senior Delhi government official said.
Applications For RTE Seats To Begin From April 20
Applications for admissions under the Right to Education Act for the academic year 2022-23 will be accepted online beginning April 20.
Admission of students who have been denied chances due to a lack of financial means to self-financed private schools other than minority educational institutions is protected by the Right to Education Act. Private educational institutions are obligated to enrol students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in order to fill up to 25% of their seats.
According to the Education Department, information on private schools and the availability of seats under the 25% quota is available at rte.tnschools.gov.in.
The deadline for submitting RTE applications is May 18.
Two-Day Bengal Global Business Summit To Begin From April 20
After a two-year hiatus, the two-day Bengal Global Business Conference — a hallmark industry summit of the Mamata Banerjee administration – is due to begin on April 20.
When West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee visited Prime Minister Narendra Modi in November 2021, she invited him to the summit. Officials from the state administration, however, were unable to confirm if Modi will attend the meeting.
“We could not organise the BGBS in the past two years because of the pandemic. So far I know 14 countries are participating in this year’s BGBS. I feel that Bengal is the gateway of industries,” Banerjee had said last week while inaugurating a permanent exhibition centre in Kolkata.
Russia Ukraine Conflict
Russian forces have shifted its focus on the eastern region after withdrawing troops from Kyiv by launching a new offensive in the Donbas area on Monday.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the aggression saying that the Russian forces have started the battle for Donbas and added that Kyiv will defend itself, according to news agency ANI.
"Russian forces have started the battle for Donbas for which they've been preparing for a long time and a considerable amount of the Russian forces are concentrated and focused on that offensive," Zelensky said, according to CNN.
"No matter how many Russian servicemen they're bringing into that area, we will keep on fighting and defending and we will be doing this daily. We will not give up anything that is Ukrainian but we don't need anything that is not ours," Zelenskyy added.
