A 22-year-old woman was killed and at least six people were injured after being mowed down by a car in the Ghazipur area of east Delhi on Wednesday, police said. Following the incident that took place at around 9 pm, locals vandalised the erring vehicle and thrashed its driver, who sustained grave injuries in the attack and has been hospitalised, they said, as reported by news agency PTI
A purported video of a group of irate people smashing the vehicle's windscreen and windows and trying to break its doors before flipping it over has surfaced on social media.
A class 7 student died after he allegedly fell from the 22nd floor of a residential high-rise near here on Wednesday, with police suspecting it to be a case of suicide, as reported by news agency PTI. The 14-year-old boy had recently taken his annual examinations and its result is expected on Thursday, PTI reported, citing official source.
A special court in Rajasthan's Kota on Wednesday sentenced a man who taught Arabic language to children at a mosque to life imprisonment for committing unnatural sex with a 10-year-old boy, as reported by news agency PTI. According to public prosecutor Lalit Kumar Sharma, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 21,000 on the convict, Naseem Khan, 23, a resident of Palwal district in Haryana. According to PTI, he taught Arabic language to students in the mosque in Kota district.
The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday fixed March 20 as the next date of hearing in the Shahi Idgah mosque case, as reported by news agency PTI. The High Court was hearing a plea filed by the mosque management committee challenging the maintainability of the suit.
A fire broke out at a mattress-manufacturing factory in Greater Noida on Wednesday in which a lot of property was damaged but with no casualty has been reported, news agency PTI reported, citing officials. The blaze was reported around 5.15 pm from the factory located in Site B area of Surajpur, prompting deployment of 15 fire tenders, the officials said.
Dense black smoke billowing from the spot was visible in the sky as several videos and pictures of the incident surfaced on social media. "Around 5.15 pm, we received information about a fire breaking out at MH Polymer, a company which makes sleeping mattresses from foam. Immediately fire tenders were rushed to the site," Chief Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar Choubey said, as quoted by PTI.

PM Modi to Address Entrepreneurs and Scheme Beneficiaries
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to participate in a programme on Wednesday via video conferencing to mark the nationwide exercise for credit support to disadvantaged sections. According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), he will launch the Pradhan Mantri Samajik Utthan and Rozgar Adharit Jankalyan (PM-SURAJ) national portal and sanction credit support to one lakh entrepreneurs from disadvantaged sections. The PM will also interact with beneficiaries of various government schemes from disadvantaged groups, including Scheduled Castes, backward classes, and sanitation workers. The portal embodies Modi's commitment to prioritise the underprivileged and is a transformative initiative aimed at uplifting the most marginalised segments of society, the statement said. During the programme, Modi will also distribute Ayushman health cards and PPE kits to sewer and septic tank workers under the National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE).
Haryana Assembly Session to Prove Saini Govt's Majority
Haryana's new Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has requested the governor to convene an assembly session on Wednesday to demonstrate the BJP government's majority in the House. Saini, who assumed office after Manohar Lal Khattar's surprise resignation, stated that they have presented a letter of support from 48 MLAs to the governor. "We have urged the governor to convene the assembly session tomorrow when we will prove our majority on the floor of the House," Saini told reporters after assuming charge, as quoted by PTI. When questioned about the number of supporting MLAs, Saini, who also serves as the Haryana BJP chief, confirmed, "We gave a letter of support of 48 MLAs to the governor."

Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as 'Prachanda', is scheduled to seek a vote of confidence from Parliament on Wednesday.
