Bajaj throws light on 2017 Pulsar Range launch plans
New Delhi: Bajaj is always euphoric to experiment with its flagship model the Pulsar. So, it has chalked out some plans for this year and the coming year in which the Pulsar takes the most prominence.
Despite the success of the Bajaj Pulsar, in the premium segment, it will also build on its recent success with the V range of motorcycles of which the V15 has been a great success.
While the V15 has been selling 30,000 units on average each month, Bajaj has been aiming at 50,000 unit sales each month beginning from the festive seasons. At the same time, the VS 400 clubs both the Pulsar brand and the V brand of Bajaj Auto.
However, it is unlikely that the VS 400 will be sold through the Pulsar or the V brand but will likely be sold with a new name. Yet, the Pulsar brand will take the centre stage, as it is has been the top selling brand of the motorcycle maker.
So, expect the 2017 Pulsar range to launch beginning from October to December 2016. Bajaj Auto does not find it appropriate to sell the VS 400, which is a 400 cc motorcycle, with the Pulsar brand name. So, it has rechristened it the “Kratos VS 400”.
While the first generation Pulsars are expected to get updates, the older ones will likely be outphased, leaving Pulsar enthusiasts disappointed. This is also due to the BS-IV emission norms anticipated from April 2017, which the older models may not be compliant to.
So, it seems likely that the Pulsar 150 NS, RS 200, AS 200 and the Pulsar 220 will remain, while the Pulsar 135, 150, AS 150, 180, etc. will likely be discontinued, either due to low sales or due to emission norms.
