Exterior
This is not one of those facelifts where you would require a magnifying glass to check out what has changed as the front end of the new Compass shows the biggest changes. There are updated headlamps along with the revised seven-slot grille while the look of the Compass has been altered with a new front bumper too. The new 18-inch alloys also look smart while the rear styling continues to be the same. The overall shape is appealing as ever with a distinct square SUV like design philosophy. The size is also convenient since it is not too big and not too small with enough road presence.
Interior
From the inside the new Compass shares next to nothing with the old one in terms of the dashboard. It is an all-new design with a new look steering wheel, touch screen, and a new digital instrument cluster. Jeep has also played close attention to make the interior look premium with added metal elements and a new premium finish to some of the switches. There is now a dual-tone and full black interior combination available in leather and fabric upholstery. In terms of technology, the Compass is now right up there at the top with the new 10.1-inch touch screen and also has a new infotainment system. The display looks nice while even the instrument cluster is now fully digital with a 10.25-inch display. There are 24 configurable screens in total.
Elsewhere there is now a 360-degree camera along with cruise control, dual-zone climate control, electrically adjustable driver's seat and a button-operated power liftgate. You also continue to get features like an electronic parking brake, six airbags, and the SelecTerrain 4x4 system and more. However, one big new feature is that it has connected technology with various functions that can be done remotely like locking/unlocking doors, driver analytics, location services, etc. Space continues to be the same as the previous Compass while the tough build quality is also there as a USP.
Engines
The Compass continues its current engine line-up with the 2.0 diesel and a 1.4 turbo petrol. A six-speed manual also remains standard while the petrol has a seven-speed dual-clutch and the diesel has a nine-speed automatic. It gets the capable 4x4 system as well with the various modes. Pricing has not been announced yet but we will know that towards the end of this month though a small price hike is what we expect. However, the Compass is now a much more desirable package with the new features while its previous advantages continue to remain. It is still one of the most capable SUVs in its class with the 4x4 system and now it also matches or even tops other SUVs in the tech department. It could be the most complete SUV that you can buy right now. Stay tuned for our full review.
