New Delhi: The much awaited Fortuner facelift from Toyota Kirloskar Motor has hit the market on Wednesday. Toyota Kirloskar Motor launched the 2021 Fortuner facelift in India at a starting price of Rs 29.98 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The Toyota Fortuner has remained one of the most sought after cars in the SUV segment and built a cult following of its own over the last decade or so. Why should you buy Fortuner facelift?

The new Toyota Fortuner facelift has retained the 2.7-litre petrol engine from the outgoing model  and the gasoline mill churns out 166PS of maximum power and 245Nm of peak torque which can be paired either with a 5-speed MT or a 6-speed AT. On the other hand the diesel variant has a more powerful 2.8-litre engine in the 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift and Toyota Fortuner Legender.

The car comes with automatic transmission which provides a torque of 500 NM and 204 PS of Power while manual transmission variants generate 204 PS of power and 420 Nm torque, the automobile company revealed. In terms of look and design, the 2021 Fortuner gets a redesigned front end featuring a larger grille, sleek-looking LED projector headlights with LED DRLs, sharper character lines, new front bumper with larger curtains, slightly smaller fog lamps and silver skid plate among others.

Besides, the company also revealed that the new Fortuner has come up with 4X4 (AT and MT) variants to further enhance their off-road credentials with a `Lockable Differential` as an additional feature to ensure a firm footing when navigating in risky terrain. The infotainment system also comes with Android Auto or Apple Carplay connectivity to provide more convenience.

What’s the cost?

The starting price of the new Fortuner petrol variant is set at Rs 29.98 lakh, while that of diesel starts at Rs 31.57 lakh ex-showroom (same across the country except in Kerala). Since its launch in 2009, over 1.7 lakh units of Fortuner have been sold in India.

The top-spec variant of the new Fortuner facelift is priced at Rs 37.43 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). In comparison, the pre-facelift model was available in the range of Rs 28.66 lakh to Rs 34.43 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). The company has also introduced a high-end trim of the model, christened as Legender, at Rs 37.58 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

A key addition to the new Fortuner & Legender is connected technology that enables features like Geo-fencing, Real-time tracking, last parked location for peace of mind.
