Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy today (July 31) announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh each to six migrant workers from Odisha, who lost lives in a massive fire in the Guntur district recently.

The six migrant labourers from Odisha were charred to death when the shelter in which they were sleeping caught fire on Thursday. The sad incident happened at Lankevani Dibba village of Repalle mandal in Guntur district.

Mr Reddy directed the concerned officials to offer Rs 3 lakh each to the deceased migrant labourers' kin.

The Chief Minister said the compensation should be handed over as a benevolent gesture to the workers’ clan, considering that they came to the state seeking livelihood.

Similarly, the CM also instructed the related officials to ensure that the owners of the fishery ponds where the labourers worked also pay compensation to the labourers' relatives.
