Chennai: Veteran actor and Makkal Needhi Maiam president Kamal Haasan today (July 31) praised the union government decision to provide 27 per cent reservation for OBC in the All India quota medical seats calling it a significant victory.
The 'Vikram' actor tweeted, “The fact that 27% reservation is possible for OBCs in the Central Package for Medical Studies is a significant achievement in the social justice journey. There is so much we yet need to achieve such as the abolition of NEET and abandonment of the All India Quota.”
Various political parties in the state have been protesting over the denial of reservation in the AIQ medical seats which forced the union government to decide to implement a 27 per cent reservation for OBC under the All India Quota for undergraduate and postgraduate programs starting from this academic year.
On the other hand, AIADMK leader O. Panneerselvam has also written to PM Modi today thanking him for the move.
Meanwhile, Kamal is juggling between his films and his new political party paying equal devotion. From the work front, the fresh news is coming in that actor Kalidas Jayaram has joined the 'Vikram' crew today. The Malayalam star took to social media to share the news.
He wrote on his Instagram handle, "Extremely elated to be a drop in this ocean of a film #vikram 🔥
