ABP Kerala Opinion Poll: Pinarayi Vijayan-Led LDF Likely To Sweep Kerala Elections, BJP Fails To Make Impact

ABP C-Voter Kerala Elections 2021 Opinion Poll: The Left Democratic Front (LDF) and United Democratic Front (UDF) led by Congress have held power in the Kerala alternately over the last 40 years and it seems people are willing to re-elect CM Pinarayi Vijayan for a second consecutive term.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday announced the dates for the assembly elections in Kerala. State elections are to be held in Kerala as well as West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Assam and Puducherry. In order to get the insight, ABP in partnership with C-Voter conducted a survey to understand the mood of people in Kerala.

According to the survey, ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) most likely to return to power in Kerala. CPI(M)-led LDF can win a simple majority by winning somewhere between 83-91 seats in the 140-member assembly. Meanwhile, Congress-led UDF might get restricted to 47-55 seats - higher than its 2016 tally when it won 47 seats.

BJP might once again fail to make any impact in Kerala as it finishes third with chances of securing 0-2 seats.

As per the survey, LDF, Congress-led UDF and BJP have seen a 3.4%, 6.2% and 2.2% decline, respectively, in their vote base, compared to the 2016 Kerala Assembly Elections.

There are 140 assembly seats in Kerala and March 19, 2021, will be the last date for filing nominations. Voting will take place in a single phase. For this, votes will be cast on April 6, 2021.

On May 2, 2021, the results of Kerala election will be announced along with the rest of the states.

Pinarayi Vijayan is currently the Chief Minister of Kerala. The state currently has a Left coalition government.

The Left Democratic Front (LDF) and United Democratic Front (UDF) led by Congress have held power in the Kerala alternately over the last 40 years and it seems people are willing to re-elect CM Pinarayi Vijayan for a second consecutive term.

Ruling government's move to distribute ration kits amid the Coronavirus pandemic was highly appreciated by people. Free ration kits were home delivered to everyone who had Aadhaar number. In April, CM Vijayan had allotted Rs 350 crore for the purpose.

There are 140 seats in Kerala. In the 2016 Kerala assembly election, United Democratic Front (UDF) got 47 seats and LDF won after gaining a majority of 91 seats.

The current term of the Legislative Assembly in four states expires in May and June. In Puducherry, Congress-led government fell after Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy resigned before the vote of confidence and President's rule was imposed in the Union Territory .

At present, Kerala is the only state in the country where the Left government is in power.  Earlier in Tripura, BJP defeated the Left front to form government after almost 25 years.
