New Delhi: It's December and Nagaland is celebrating the famous Hornbill Festival that showcases the traditional life and culture of The Nagas. This year it's the 23rd celebration and is scheduled from December 1 to December 10 at Naga Heritage Village Kisama. The Hornbill Festival of Nagaland has hosted tourists from all over the world for more than 20 years, where a visitor gets the chance to see all of the Naga tribes, their cultures, and their unique characteristics during the 10-day celebration.
The inaugural ceremony of The Hornbill festival had taken place on December 1 and the occasion was graced by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar as Chief Guest. The National Anthem was played on guitar by a Nagaland artist, Imnainla Jamir and this video has gone viral on social media garnering thousands of views. Netizens have been mesmerised by her tune and have shared the video all over the internet.

About Hornbill Festival:
The Hornbill Festival is an annual ten-day tourism promotion event conceptualised in the year 2000 and is run by the State Government. It serves to highlight Nagaland's rich and traditional cultural heritage in all its ethnicity, diversity, and grandeur. Known as the "Festival of Festivals," this occasion offers visitors a special opportunity to see not only the diversity of Naga culture converged at one location, but also the cultures of the states of North East India as a means of cultural exchange. Adventure, sports, art, handicraft, fashion, music, literature, etc. are also included in the unique package.
This year, more than 130 stalls are set up in Kisama for the 10-day festival of which 100 are occupied by Micro Small & Medium Enterprises and 32 are temporary. Activities like music festivals, photo fests, fashion shows, extreme sports, night carnivals, etc. are among the daily cultural events.
Hornbill Festival 2022: How to attend
A local government inner line permission is required for domestic tourists, while foreign visitors must register with the residential district's Foreigners Registration Office (FRO) within 24 hours of their arrival.
Additionally, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has created an exciting offer this year to make it possible for visitors to take part in the Hornbill Festival. The Northeastern Indian states of Manipur and Nagaland are the destinations of an intriguing 7-day tour offered by IRCTC.
The Sangai and Hornbill Festival Tour package, offered by Indian Rail, is a 6-day/7-night journey. Flight tickets, hotel accommodations, breakfast, travel insurance, dinner, and taxis for sightseeing are all included in the package, which will begin in Delhi.
