New Delhi: Vinayaka Chaturthi or Varad Vinayaka Chaturthi on Vaishakha Chaturthi Shukla Paksha is being celebrated on February 23. On this day, devotees observe a bimonthly fast to honour the Lord- one in the waning phase of the moon, the other when the moon waxes. During the waning phase of the moon, the vrat is called Sankashti/Sankat Hara Chaturthi, and the one during the waxing phase is known as Vinayaka Chaturthi.

The Puja Muhurat for Vinayaka Chaturthi begins on February 23 at 11:26 AM and concludes on February 23 at 01:43 PM. An individual who is fasting for Vinayaka Chaturthi should worship the Lord during this time.

When Brahma Muhurta occurs, devotees should get up and take a bath. They should  then make a commitment to observe a fast and worship Lord Ganesha. Devotees can present the Lord with gifts during the puja, including flowers, incense, candies, and more.


Vinayaka Chaturthi 2023: Puja Samagri


The following things are required for Panchopachara Puja:



  • Itra/perfume 

  • Red coloured hibiscus flowers or any other flower

  • Incense

  • Oil lamp 

  • Naivedhya (Prasad to offer to Lord Ganesha).

  • In the end, offer tamboolam consisting of five types of fruits (optional), a whole brown coconut with husk broken into two, bananas, paan and supari, haldi and kumkum, and dakshina (currency notes/coins).

  • Conclude the puja by singing the Ganesh Aarti.


Vinayaka Chaturthi 2023: Remedies For Wealth


On the day of Vinayaka Chaturthi of Phalgun month, make durva mala and offer it to Lord Ganapati. Offer pure ghee and jaggery to the vighnaharta and chant the mantra 'Vakratunday hoon' 54 times. After the puja is over, feed these jaggery and ghee to the cow. It is believed that this removes the economic crisis, the seeker does not lack money.
