New Delhi: Vinayaka Chaturthi or Varad Vinayaka Chaturthi on Vaishakha Chaturthi Shukla Paksha is being celebrated on February 23. On this day, devotees observe a bimonthly fast to honour the Lord- one in the waning phase of the moon, the other when the moon waxes. During the waning phase of the moon, the vrat is called Sankashti/Sankat Hara Chaturthi, and the one during the waxing phase is known as Vinayaka Chaturthi.

When Brahma Muhurta occurs, devotees should get up and take a bath. They should then make a commitment to observe a fast and worship Lord Ganesha. Devotees can present the Lord with gifts during the puja, including flowers, incense, candies, and more.
Vinayaka Chaturthi 2023: Puja Samagri
The following things are required for Panchopachara Puja:
- Itra/perfume
- Red coloured hibiscus flowers or any other flower
- Incense
- Oil lamp
- Naivedhya (Prasad to offer to Lord Ganesha).
- In the end, offer tamboolam consisting of five types of fruits (optional), a whole brown coconut with husk broken into two, bananas, paan and supari, haldi and kumkum, and dakshina (currency notes/coins).
