Trendsetter: Meet Yashmeen, India's very own muscular & massive women bodybuilder
New Delhi: Bodybuilding, predominantly is considered to be a field dominated by men but one woman is working hard to change this thinking once and for all.
Winner of two golds medals-Women's Physique and Women's Fitness-in IBBFF Miss India (2016) competition, Yashmeen Chauhan Manak (37) was found of "being in shape" since she was 17-years-old.
"Three years back I started bodybuilding. Earlier to that, I was into basic fitness, just to stay in shape", she said.
However, there was a time when she was "overweight".
Talking about her childhood she said-"When I was in school I was very fat and everybody used to make fun of me, that used to hurt me a lot. However, I was overweight because of a disease."
"So I decided that some day I will definitely be in shape and show them all", she added.
The owner of Sculpt gym in Gurgaon and also a fitness trainer Yashmeen said, she always wanted to be in shape and that was also her motivation.
Talking about her workout she said, "During the offseason when I'm not competing, I work out 2 hours a day, five days a week. During close to competition, it's 3 hours per day and can be all days a week."
Commenting on the role of diet she said, diet is as important as exercising, however, it should be a correct diet.
Eating at the right time and small four to five meals per day, rather than two-three big meals is a good habit, fitness trainer said.
Talking about her future plans she said-"Now I want to compete internationally and open an academy which could teach girls how to pose and present themselves on the stage during bodybuilding shows."
Yashmeen Chauhan Manak's message for people is, "Trust yourself, follow your heart and do what your heart really want you to do".
