1. Kalighat Kali Temple


The Kalighat Kali Temple is one of the oldest temples in the city and is dedicated to Goddess Kali, the incarnation of Goddess Durga. It is considered one of the 51 Shakti Peethas and is of great religious importance. Located near the Adi Ganga, this temple attracts thousands of devotees everyday. The unique idol of the Goddess, made of black stone, with three large eyes and a protruding tongue, is different from the traditional depictions.

2. Dakshineswar Kali Temple


Dakshineswar Kali Temple is located on the east of the banks of Hooghly River. It's a famous temple dedicated to Goddess Kali. Built in 1855 by a philanthropist and devotee, Rani Rashmoni, the temple is famous for its association with the spiritual leader Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. The temple's artistic offerings include a nine pillared shrine for Goddess Kali with surrounding temples to Lord Shiva and Radha Krishna.

3. Belur Math


Located on the banks of Hooghly River, Belur Math is a famous spiritual and cultural centre founded by Swami Vivekanand in 1897. Belr Math is known for its unique architecture that combines Hindu, Christian and Islamic elements, symbolising unity. The serene camus attracts devotees and pilgrims, especially during Durga Puja. Its peaceful surroundings and spiritual teachings makes it a peaceful haven for people who want to gain knowledge about spirituality.

4. Lake Kalibari Temple




Located near the Southern Avenue in Kolkata, Kali Bari Lake Temple is a peaceful temple dedicated to Goddess Kali. It was established in 1949 as a peaceful retreat for devotees seeking spiritual blessings. Although small in size, this temple holds great importance for local devotees. The temple is particularly vibrant and lively during festivals like Durga Puja and Kali Puja. Its quiet location makes is a popular place for prayer and meditation.
