Things To Keep In Mind Before Getting Your First Tattoo

Tattoos are a form of self-expression or perhaps an experiential art for tattoo fans. If you haven't gotten your first tattoo yet or are thinking about getting one, this article is for you.

Tattoos are frequently the entry point into the greater world of body alteration. Tattoos are a form of self-expression or even experience art for the majority of tattoo fans. Tattooing has been practiced for ages, with the origins of the ceremony varying from place to region. Some claim that the term "tattoo" came from the Samoan word "tatau," which means "to strike or tap."

You have been waiting and contemplating getting your first tattoo. Right from thinking of choosing your design to getting those jitters of whether to get it done or not. It is not an easy choice to make but when you have finally decided and the D-Day of getting your first tattoo has arrived, you need to keep following dos and dont’s in mind to make things go smoothly.

In an interaction with Lokesh Verma, Founder of Devil'z Tattooz, he shared several pointers that will help you prepare for getting permanent tattoos on your body:

The DOs That You Should Keep In Mind:

1. If you are going for a big tattoo which is going to take a lot of time by the tattoo artist then keep yourself hydrated. Drink lots of water and have a good meal before you go for getting inked.

2. Keep some chocolates with you handy or a soft drink to keep your blood sugar level moderate to high.

3. Choose your artist before as you will be spending a lot of time with the artist and be sure that you like his work.

4. Choose your design before only and if possible, you can meet the artist a day or two prior to discuss the design, size and position of the tattoo.

5. Wear a nice perfume to smell good for people around you at the tattoo studio.

6. Sleep well the night before your tattoo appointment.

7. If you have any skin issues get yourself examined first and inform the tattoo artist.

The DON'Ts  That You Should Know:

1. As mentioned before, don’t go empty stomach for the tattoo.

2. Don’t drink alcohol on the previous night as it makes your blood thin and you might bleed more which will make things difficult for the tattoo artist, thereby annoying him.

3. Don’t take the opinions of others as it is your tattoo and you have to be convinced by the design.

4. Do not take your whole gang of friends with you to the studio, one friend accompanying you is enough.

5. And once you are done with your first tattoo, the artist at the studio will bandage the area with plastic tape and run you for aftercare instructions. Listen to them carefully and follow them to take care of your tattoo.
