Ramadan 2022 Dates: Ramadan (Ramzan or Ramadhan) the 9th month of the Islamic calendar is all set to begin in the first week of April. The month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam and is an essential part of the Islamic faith.


Muslims all around the world fast from dawn to dusk during the month of Ramadan. Considered a holy month, during Ramadan Muslims try to abstain from everyday desires and devote their time to worship. Creating self-control is one of the fundamentals during the month of Ramadan.


Ramadan 2022 Rituals


During Ramadan, the fast starts from dawn (the time when the sun rises) and ends at dusk (the time when the sun sets down). Muslims usually have a pre-dawn meal called "Suhoor" or "Sehri" and then break their fast in an evening feast called "Iftar".


Besides, the usual five-time prayers there are special late-night prayers organised called Tarawih (Taraweeh) during the month of Ramadan. Muslims also try to do a lot of charity work during this month as it is believed that rewards to do a good deed will reap 70 times more benefits. Muslims also recite the Holy Quran during the month of Ramadan. 


The month of Ramadan concludes after 29 or 30 days and the festival of Eid (Eid Ul Fitr) is celebrated to mark the occasion.

This year the dates for Ramadan in India are expected to start either from April 3rd or April 4th depending on the moonsighting.
