PM Modi led a mass yoga session at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar in J&K., today, on the occasion of International Yoga Day. He addressed the audience and also clicked selfies with the local people in Dal Lake. Apart from all this, the thing that caught people's attention was the Assamese 'Gamusa' that he was wearing around his neck. PM Modi has kept on to this tradition of donning an Assamese Gamusa on Yoga Day while he performs asanas and greets the public.
His outfit comprised of a white kurta-pyjama and a gamusa wrapped around his neck. The off-white gamusa had green embroidery that complemented his outfit well.

Last year also PM Modi accessorised his outfit by donning an Assamese Gamusa as he attended a mass yoga session at the UN headquarters lawns, on the occasion of International Yoga Day, creating a new Guinness world record.
All About The Gamusa:
The Assamese Gamusa is a handwoven cotton textile from Assam. It is usually white with crimson or maroon stripes on the edges and may include ornate motifs woven into it. Being a versatile piece of cloth, it plays a vital role in Assamese culture and is worn in a variety of social, cultural, and religious activities.
Additionally, the Gamusa also represents hospitality, kindness, and respect and is also given as a gift to guests or used to honour significant people.
In recent years, the Gamusa, also known as Gamucha, has gained popularity outside of Assam and is now recognised as a symbol of India's whole northeast area.
