New Delhi: Our New Year's resolutions are coming up as the new year draws near. We make several commitments to ourselves that we make an effort to keep throughout the year. However, staying fit and adhering to a balanced diet should be on top of our resolutions. Given that we are more susceptible to infections these days, what we eat and drink can affect how well our bodies are able to fight them off.
Here are some health tips that you can kick start the year with:
1. Exercise Regularly:
Maintaining a healthy weight enhances cardiovascular and muscular health and aids in disease prevention. Exercise has also been proven to lower stress levels and enhance mood, so make an effort to fit in the American Heart Association's minimum recommendation of 150 minutes per week of moderate-intensity aerobic activity along with at least two days of muscle-strengthening activities.
2. Try To Include All The Essential Nutrients In Your Diet:
Even if you eat a lot of food, your body might not be receiving all the nutrients it needs to stay healthy. Minerals, protein, whole grains, and other nutrients are present in nutrient-rich foods, which also contain fewer calories. They might support your efforts to manage your blood pressure, cholesterol, and weight. The majority of healthy eating regimens can be modified based on calorie needs, as well as on cultural and personal dietary preferences.
3. Go For A Digital Detox:
For better or worse, technology is an amazing instrument that will always be a part of our lives. On the negative side, many people have become obsessed with constantly checking social media platforms, playing games, or surfing for hours. Going for a Digital Detox once every week can be used to completely disengage from technology, giving you more time to spend alone or with real people.
4. Proper Sleep:
We take pride in staying up late at night either for working, study or maybe even to watch a movie! But, all of these can be done in the daytime. You can’t overestimate the value of sleep. Getting proper rest at suitable hours has huge benefits which we often underestimate. For adults, sleeping at least seven hours a night is what you need to regenerate your body and stabilize energy levels. Children need even more. Among the many benefits of sleep, it helps you live longer, lowers stress, and sharpens memory.
5. Spend Time Outdoors:
More time spent outside can enhance health by reducing stress, enhancing mood, and possibly lowering blood pressure. Spending more time outside each day is a sustainable and healthful resolve that can benefit almost everyone, wherever they reside. You can include nature into your everyday routine by going for a stroll outside during your lunch break, going camping with friends, or just enjoying the scenery in your backyard or nearby park.
