Nashik: Cops take prisoner out for lunch, suspended
Nashik: In a bizarre incident, cops went out with a prisoner, charged under MCOCA, for food and drinks after having escorted him to a city court for a hearing.
The incident came to light when the prisoner was taken back to the Nashik Central Prison later than the scheduled time.
Three policemen, constables Pramod Jadhav, Sagar Bodhle and Rahul Dhondge have been suspended could lose their jobs.
As per the reports, in May, Sameer Pathan ( who has at least 36 cases of murder, attempt to murder, theft, dacoity and body offenses registered against him) was produced before a local court in connection with an ongoing case.
However, after the hearing, the police vehicle in which the prisoner had reached the court remained parked on the jail premises.
A private vehicle was boarded by Pathan and the constables. They allegedly went to Trim bakeshwar road, later to Sinnar and consumed alcohol and had lunch.
They finally returned to the prison in the police van around 7pm and when questioned about the delay, the policemen said the van had broken down and took time to be repaired, said reports.
However, an investigations showed that the four had gone out for lunch.
