It is said that the army cannot march on an empty stomach. Is the same rule applies for players and workout enthusiasts? Health professionals advise against consuming food just before a workout session. Usually, people work out for an hour in the morning, and the body needs energy for this. This energy comes from glycogen in the body. This glycogen comes from glucose that is stored in the muscles and liver of the body. When someone works out, the body uses this energy. Hence, we can say that stored energy in the body is necessary for a workout.

Morning workout assessment

Researchers from Northumbria University did research in this regard. . Researchers studied individuals who worked out during the day and slept on an empty stomach at night. They tried to assess if such individuals had a craving to eat more during the day. . The amount of fat loss was also monitored in these individuals. . 12 people were included in the research. . All of them were asked to run on the treadmill at 10 o'clock during the day. . Half of these people were given breakfast before work out, while half were given work out without breakfast. . After the exercise, everyone was given chocolate, milkshake, and recovery drink. . After this, as much food as could be eaten was served. . Total fat intake, energy gained, and time of lunch was recorded

More benefits of exercising on an empty stomach

The results of the research showed that all the people exercised correctly. . For exercise, these individuals used the energy already stored in the body. They did not use energy immediately taken from the consumed food. . Research also found that those who exercised in the morning did not consume any extra energy, nor did they feel more hungry.  The research revealed the most important fact that those who fasted before exercise burned 20 percent more fat. . This means that exercising on an empty stomach is more beneficial to reduce fat.
