Happy Teachers' Day 2023: Teachers' Day is observed in India on September 5 each year. This day honours educators for their vital role in shaping the lives of students. Teachers' Day is observed in India to honour Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was born on September 5, 1888. Dr Radhakrishnan served as both India's first and second president. He was a great scholar, philosopher, and recipient of the Bharat Ratna. 

Since 1962, when Dr Radhakrishnan was elected President of India, the country has been celebrating his birth anniversary by honouring its teachers and gurus on this day.
