Guinness World Records (GWR) is well-known for documenting some of the most bizarre food-related events in history. From chefs making the world's largest puffcorn to a man breaking the record for eating the most spiciest chillies, these records have all been proven to be true. Another world record in the field of food was recently set. A team of two (one blindfolded, the other unable to use their hands) assembled a classic sandwich in the shortest amount of time. Sarah Gamperling and Andre Ortolf of Augsburg, Germany, completed the feat in 40.17 seconds. They set the record on November 2, 2022.

A video of the duo making the sandwich was shared on the Guinness World Records Instagram account. While the man making the sandwich was blindfolded, the lady standing in front with her hands tied behind her back was seen guiding him through the process. He begins by opening a packet of bread and removing two slices. He then liberally applies butter to both, followed by a slice of meat and four sliced tomatoes. He places the second slice on top, pins a white flag to the top, and the task is finished.

The caption of the post read: "Fastest time to make a sandwich by a team of two (blindfolded/no hands) 40.17 seconds by Sarah Gamperling and Andre Ortolf. #guinnessworldrecords #sandwichesofinstagram #sandwiches." The video has received over 1.5 million views and numerous reactions from Instagram users. Many people have dubbed it the "most useless record ever."

Previously, Indian duo Dinesh Upadhyaya and Manish Upadhyaya set the record for peeling and eating an orange while blindfolded. On March 5, 2014, the Upadhyaya duo from Goregaon, Mumbai, broke the record in 17.15 seconds. Dinesh ate the orange while Manish peeled it.
