Talking to Deccan Herald, the students said that they requested their principal since they have to wear hijab as per their religious belief. The long sleeve scrub jackets and surgical hoods would permit them to maintain sterile precautions as well as religious attire.
Following this, the college principal Dr Linet Morris said that the students were informed about the technical difficulties in changing their operation theatre attire. The students were also informed that a decision would be taken after discussing the matter with others concerned.
The doctor said that the operation theatre attire was decided on the basis of international norms. As a result, any change could be taken after detailed discussions.
Earlier, the Kerala government refused to provide permission to the school students to wear hijab as part of the Student Police Cadet project uniform.
