Three people in Kerala's Pathanamthitta district were arrested for killing two women in "human sacrifice" ritual. According to police, The deceased women used to sell lottery tickets. They both were abducted, killed and buried at a home in the district, said police.
The deceased were identified as Roselin and Padma. Two women from the Ernakulam district were missing since June and September. “We suspect that a ritualistic human sacrifice has taken place. We have to exhume the bodies of the women. The women were beheaded and their bodies were buried at Elanthoor in Pathanamthitta. A few people are in police custody,” Kochi City Police Commissioner C H Nagaraju said as quoted by IE.

The accused were identified as Bhagaval Singh, Laila and Shafi. When police were investigating Padma's missing case, which was registered in September, they learnt that she was taken away by Shafi to the Pathanamthitta district. The police further revealed that the main objective of abduction and human sacrifice by the couple, Singh and Laila, was their financial prosperity.
"We have got the confession statement of the couple and agent. The couple were facing financial crisis and they have decided to sacrifice the two women to appease god and get rid of the wealth crisis," the Kochi City Commissioner said. The bodied were buried near couple's house, added the police.
