'Vidyarambham' ceremony, which marks the beginning of learning for toddlers, is underway in Kerala temples. Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan and Tiruvananthapuram MP and senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor attended the ceremony at Saraswati Devi Temple in the capital city on Wednesday.


The ceremony is held on Vijayadashami as it is considered the most auspicious day to begin learning. Eminent scholars with the help of temple priests guide the toddlers to write their first letter on this auspicious day.

Arif Mohammed Khan, in a release, said, "My heartiest greetings to Keralites the world over on Vijaya Dashami. My love and blessings to all children having their Vidyarambham - initiation into the world of alphabets and knowledge today."


The ceremony is conducted in temples like Thunchan Parambu in Tirur, Sri Mookambika temple in Kollur, Vedagiri in Kottayam, Attukal Bhagavathy temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Sri Dakshina Mookambika temple in Kochi, and Thrikkavu Sri Durga Bhagavathy temple in Malappuram.
