A day after three people were taken into custody for killing two women in ritualistic human sacrifice in Kerala, Ernakulam District Sessions Court on Wednesday remanded the accused to judicial custody till October 26, after they were produced in the sessions court.
According to police, the deceased women used to sell lottery tickets. They both were abducted, killed and buried at a home in the district, said police.

As reported earlier, the accused were identified as Bhagaval Singh, Laila and Shafi. When police were investigating Padma's missing case, which was registered in September, they learnt that she was taken away by Shafi, the agent, to the Pathanamthitta district. The police revealed that the main objective of abduction and human sacrifice by the couple, Singh and Laila, was to recuperate from being financial crippled.
The deceased were identified as Roselin and Padma. Two women from the Ernakulam district were missing since June and September. “We suspect that a ritualistic human sacrifice has taken place. We have to exhume the bodies of the women. The women were beheaded and their bodies were buried at Elanthoor in Pathanamthitta. A few people are in police custody,” Kochi City Police Commissioner C H Nagaraju said as quoted by IE.
"We have got the confession statement of the couple and agent. The couple was facing financial crisis and they decided to sacrifice the two women to appease god and get rid of the wealth crisis," the Kochi City Commissioner said. The bodies were buried near the couple's house," added the police.
