Chennai: Former Health Minister of Kerala KK Shailaja conveyed her wishes to the children of Lini who died due to Nipah attack on their first day of school on Wednesday. Lini Puthussery, a 28-year-old nurse died from the deadly Nipah virus in Kozhikode in May 2018. She is survived by two sons aged five and two.
In a post, KK Shailaja teacher said, "Dear Lini's children go to school. Heartfelt congratulations to all the children who will be coming to school in the new academic year."

Even in 2019, Lini's husband Sajeesh in a Facebook post applauded the then Minister Shailaja for her ability to understand and provide assistance even before they realize they need something.
He also recalled the words of the Minister when his sons were down with Nipah fever. Sajeesh said, the teacher spoke to me and said that my sons were okay and they are playing around in the ward. However, the hospital can discharge them only after four days of observation.
Hence, the minister's words were our strength, he said.

The former Minister wished the students since the schools reopened after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic on Wednesday. The schools reopened full-fledged with Kerala CM Vijayan inaugurating a Government High Secondary School in Kazhakootam. He also distributed sweets to the students who were present at the event.
