'Will Appear For Trial': Yediyurappa Reaches Bengaluru After Court Stays Arrest In Karnataka POCSO Case

Yediyurappa, an influential political figure in Karnataka, maintained his innocence and criticised what he described as attempts to create unnecessary confusion.

A day after the Karnataka High Court ordered former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday in connection with a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case, the senior BJP leader expressed confidence that the truth will prevail. Yediyurappa, an influential political figure in Karnataka, maintained his innocence and criticised what he described as attempts to create unnecessary confusion. Further, he said that the people would teach a lesson to everyone who "were doing tricks".

According to ANI, Yediyurappa said, "I went to Delhi as part of a scheduled program. I have already informed that I would come for trial on the 17th of this month. The High Court has also issued an injunction. I am going to the trial on Monday."

"They did the work of causing unnecessary confusion. I am not complaining to anyone. Time will decide everything. People know what the truth is. People will teach a lesson to those who are doing tricks," he said.

The Karnataka High Court, on Friday, stayed the non-bailable warrant against Yediyurappa and directed the police not to arrest him.

Earlier, a complaint was given by a woman accusing the former CM of misbehaving with her daughter leading to charges under the POCSO Act.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah stated on Saturday that he and his government have never engaged in "vindictive politics" and will not do so in the future. He accused the BJP of indulging in such practices.
