Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah voiced his trust in the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe initiated by the state government to investigate sexual harassment allegations against JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna on Friday. Additionally, he stated that there was no necessity to transfer the case to the CBI.

Criticising opposition parties, Siddaramaiah asserted that during the BJP's tenure in the State, not a single case was referred to the CBI. He recalled a time when the term 'CBI' was mockingly referred to as the 'Corruption Bureau of Investigation', with former Prime Minister and JD(S) leader H D Deve Gowda even dubbing it the 'Chor Bachao Institution', according to a report on PTI.

He questioned the sudden affinity towards the CBI. Addressing reporters, Siddaramaiah responded to JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy's call to transfer the case to the CBI, stating, "There's no necessity to involve the CBI. I have faith in our police (SIT) to conduct a lawful investigation."

The Chief Minister referenced several cases that were handed over to the CBI during the previous Congress administration in the State, questioning, "But were there any convictions in these cases?"

“Our government does not interfere in legal proceedings and investigations. They (SIT) are conducting the inquiry in the right manner. Not now, nor in the past, have I instructed any police officers to do something beyond or against the law. However, there is no need for a CBI probe. Our police should be trusted,” he said, as per the report.

According to the law, the SIT has been formed. "I have full confidence in our police officers. They will uncover the truth," he affirmed. The Chief Minister emphasized that neither he nor Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar are implicated in the investigation of the case.
