Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna, who is facing charges of sexually abusing women, released a video on Monday announcing that he would appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on May 31. Further, he said that he would fully cooperate with the investigation. Prajwal, the grandson of former prime minister HD Deve Gowda, is at the center of a sexual harassment case in Karnataka. He left India on April 27 a day after voting for the Lok Sabha elections took place in his constituency.

Prajwal's announcement comes amid reports that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is in the process of canceling his diplomatic passport under the provisions of the Passports Act of 1967 and related regulations.

In the self-made selfie video, Prajwal Revanna said that it was that the allegation was a political conspiracy against him. Prajwal said, "...When elections were held on 26th April, there was no case against me and no SIT was formed, my foreign trip was pre-planned. I came to know about the allegations while I was on my trip... Rahul Gandhi and many other Congress leaders started talking about it and against me and a political conspiracy was formed against me... On Friday 31st May at 10 am I will appear before SIT and provide all information related to the investigation. I will support the investigation. I have faith in the judiciary..."

Karnataka Sex Scandal

Prajwal Revanna, the JD(S)-BJP candidate from Karnataka's Hassan seat for the 2024 Lok Sabha election, along with his father, MLA HD Revanna, has been accused of sexually harassing women between 2019 and 2022.

The scandal escalated with the release of explicit video clips purportedly showing Prajwal Revanna involved in sexual acts with multiple women. The distribution of pen drives containing these videos, reportedly totaling 2,976 clips, intensified the controversy following which cases were filed against the father-son duo.

In response to the growing scandal, the JD(S) has suspended Prajwal Revanna.
