Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Monday trained guns on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the latter's "sent by God" remark. Addressing a poll rally in Bihar's Bakhtiyarpur, the Congress leader said that Modi has brought 'parmatma' (God) in the story because when the Enforcement Directorate will ask him about Adani after Lok Sabha elections, the PM would say he does not know and was asked by parmatma to do so.

Rahul took the dig at Modi's statement during an interview to a TV news channel where he said that he was "convinced" that he "was sent by God."

"Until my mother was alive, I used to think I was born biologically. After her demise, when I look at my experiences, I am convinced that I was sent by God. This strength is not from my body. It has been given to me by God. That's why God also gave me the ability, strength, pure-heartedness, and inspiration to do this. I'm nothing but an instrument that God has sent," Modi had said.

Hitting out at the remark, Rahul said, "You know why he (PM Modi) has brought this story of Parmatma? Because, after the election when this very ED will ask Narendra Modi about Adani, he will say, I don't know, it was asked to me by Parmatma."

"Modi ji, stop giving long speeches and dividing the country. First, tell this to the people of Bihar, of the country, how many jobs you have given to the youth of the country...," he added.

Rahul also alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party wants a monarchy-like rule in India. " They want to make a government of 22-25 people. Narendra Modi works for them 24x7. They made Arabpatis, we will make crores of Lakhpatis. A woman each will be chosen from all the families and money will be transferred directly," he said.

During his address, the Congress leader promised that if I.N.D.I.A block forms the government, Agnipath scheme of recruitment in defence services will be scrapped. He also promised Rs 8500 will be deposited  in every woman's account each month and operations in all the closed industries will be resumed. He also promised that 30 lakh job vacancies will be filled if I.N.D.I.A bloc is elected to power.
