Prime Minister Narendra Modi met former Prime Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) president HD Deve Gowda on Thursday. After the visit, the PM praised the "exemplary" contribution of the former PM to the nation's progress. The BJP and JD(S) forged an alliance in Karnataka after the Congress' triumph in the Assembly Polls held earlier this year.

However, HD Kumaraswamy always maintained that it was a personal visit to the nation's capital.

Before leaving for the national capital, Kumaraswamy said he was going to Delhi for personal work.

"No seat sharing talks...is my trip to Delhi also special? There is nothing special in the Delhi trip, I'm going on personal work...there is nothing, I will come back to talk to you," he said.
