Days after former Intelligence Bureau (IB) Officer RN Kulkarni was knocked down by a car at the Manasagangothri campus of Mysore University in Mysuru, the city police Tuesday arrested one person and called the hit-and-run a deliberate act.
"The CCTV footage of the hit and run that took place in the city's Manasagangotri premises on Friday evening has been released. 82-year-old retired intelligence officer RN Kulkarni died in the incident. It has been revealed that the driver of the car collided deliberately. The lack of a number plate on the car was suspicious," said Mysuru commissioner Dr Chandragupta, IPS.
The Mysuru Commissioner said that the hit and run was deliberate and the vehicle used was not carrying any authentic number plate. A case was registered at Jayalakshmipuram police station and the investigation was taken up. Four teams were formed and the probe was carried out.

After the incident, the deceased's son-in-law lodged a complaint. In his complaint, he revealed that the retired IB officer had a bitter relationship with his neighbour Madappa and there was a land dispute between the families, said the police.
"After further investigation, it was found that Madappa's younger son and his friend were involved in executing hit and run. One person has been arrested and the vehicle used in the incident is also confiscated. Further investigation is on to ascertain if there are more people involved," concluded the city commissioner Chandragupta.
Earelier the police have gone through the CCTV footage, in which a speeding car without the number plate is seen deliberately driving towards the IB officer, who was on his usual walk on the side of the road and hit him. The driver didn't stop after he hit the former IB officer. Initially, police lodged a hit-and-run case but after observing CCTV footage they suspected it to be a planned murder.
