The age-old adage, "love knows no bounds" was proven right in Rajasthan's Bharatpur when a female teacher changed her gender to marry her student she loved. Meera, a physical education teacher at Government Secondary School in Nagla fell in love with her student Kalpana studying in the same school.
After they met and fell in love, both wanted to marry each other but were facing issues due to the same gender. Meera now known as Aarav Kuntal, on facing the hurdle decided to change her gender.
In 2019, Meera took the decision of undergoing the gender-change surgery, and after registering multiple times, she finally underwent the first surgery in the process.
"I thought long ago that I was going to have surgery to change the gender. I had my first surgery in December 2019," said Meera, as reported by ANI.
The bride Kalpana said she had decided to marry Meera (Aarav Kuntal) even if she wasn't willing to undergo the gender-change surgery. Kalpana had also accompanied Meera to hospital for the surgery.
"I loved him from the beginning. Even if he had not done this surgery, I would have married him. I went with him even when he was going for surgery, Kalpana was quoted as saying by the news agency after the marriage.
