Former Deputy Chief Minister G Parameshwara suffered a head injury in a stone pelting incident while campaigning at Bhyrenahalli in Koratagere Assembly constituency in Tumakuru district on Friday. When Parameshwara's supporters were carrying him on their shoulders and showering him with flower petals, he allegedly was struck by a stone.
As blood started flowing from Parameshwara's head, he was rushed to a Primary Health Center in Akkirampura village, where he received first aid because his head was bleeding.
Before the doctor started taking care of his wounds, Parameshwara was seen holding a towel.
In response to the incident, Congress leader Ramesh Babu stated that senior Parameshwara has no enmity toward anyone.
"During the time when Parameshwara was submitting his nomination papers, there was an attempt to attack him near the taluk court, resulting in a police constable getting injured," he wrote on Twitter.
The election in Koratagere has turned into a high-voltage fight, with former IAS official Anil Kumar challenging as BJP candidate this time.
On March 29, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced the poll schedule for the election of the 224-member Karnataka Legislative Assembly. The state will go to polls on May 10 and the votes will be counted on May 13.
