Karnataka: 6 High Court Judges Receive Death Threats On WhatsApp, Police Register FIR

The Central CEN Crime Police Station in Bangalore has issued a First Information Report against unknown suspects after the High Court of Karnataka's press relations officer submitted a complaint alleging threats to the lives of numerous judges, including himself, police said on Monday, news agency PTI reported. On July 14, K Muralidhar filed a complaint. At approximately 7 p.m. on July 12, he got messages on WhatsApp from a foreign number. His phone number is the one assigned to him by the High Court.
According to police, the message in Hindi, Urdu, and English allegedly threatened Muralidhar and six High Court judges, including Justice Mohammed Nawaz, Justice HT Narendra Prasad, Justice Ashok G Nijagannavar (retired), Justice HP Sandesh, Justice K Natarajan, and Justice B Veerappa (retired), with assassination by a 'Dubai gang'.

The message also included five questionable cell phone numbers and the threat.
K Muralidhar, the court's public relations officer, alleged in his complaint that he got the threat message over WhatsApp. The sender also requested Rs 50 lakh in ransom, to be transferred in an account with "ABL Allied Bank Limited" in Pakistan.
"The names of judges mentioned in the FIR copy are Mohammad Nawaz, HT Narendra Prasad, Ashok G Nijagannavar, HP Sandesh, K Natarajan and Veerappa. The messenger has threatened to kill the six judges and the PRO through a ‘Dubai Gang' if the amount is not deposited. The threat messages are sent in Hindi, Urdu and English languages. The accused has also mentioned five mobile phone numbers along with the threat messages stating 'Yah Indian hamare aapna shooter Hain' (This Indian is our Shooter)," the complaint filed by the PRO was quoted by The New Indian Express in its report.
The police claimed they filed the FIR with the 1st Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court after registering it under Sections 506, 507, and 504 of the Indian Penal Code and Sections 75 and 66(F) of the Information Technology Act.
