New Delhi: Schools and colleges continued to be shut on Wednesday as rain wreaked havoc in the coastal districts of Karnataka. India Meteorological Department also issued a red alert to the coastal districts of the state.
Meanwhile, due to heavy rains a compound wall of an engineering college, which is located on the outskirts of Mangaluru, collapsed on Tuesday. Three cars were damaged due to the wall collapse.

Incessant rains in Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Chikkamagluru, Shivamogga and several other coastal districts in the state were brought to a standstill. Normalcy has been hit in these districts as landslides, tree uprooting and houses being submerged has been reported from these districts.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said that he had directed the officials to take relief measures in the rain-hit regions. “Rains have caused damage in many areas. I have spoken to district commissioners concerned and asked them to take up required relief measures," Bommai said as quoted by The News Minute.
