After inaugurating India Energy Week 2023 on Monday in Bengaluru, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the HAL helicopter factory and unveiled the Light Utility helicopter in Tumakuru. After inauguration, PM Modi said that the HAL helicopter factory is shot in the arm for self-reliance in Defence.


The PM claimed that misinformation was spread about HAL and many false allegations were made against our government but now the helicopter factory and its rising power will unveil those who levelled false allegations.


"Misinformation was spread about HAL, & many false allegations were made against our govt. Many working hours of Parliament were wasted over it. HAL's Helicopter Factory & its rising power will unveil those who levelled false allegations. HAL boosting self-reliance in defence," PM Modi said as quoted by news agency ANI.

He also said that the investment in the Aerospace sector in the last 9 years has increased by 4-5 times more than that of the figure witnessed 15 years before.


After the unveiling of Light Utility helicopter, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, "The inauguration of the Helicopter Factory of Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) is a milestone in the journey of achieving self-reliance in the defence sector."


It is a dedicated new greenfield helicopter factory that will enhance India’s capacity and ecosystem to build helicopters, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said earlier in a tweet.


Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai was also present at the inauguration of the helicopter factory at Tumakuru. Earlier in the day, PM Modi launched India Energy Week 2023 in Bengaluru.
