Former IAF Officer Who Escaped From Police Custody After Murdering Wife & Children, Held After 11 Years

The accused threw chili powder on the cops and escaped from custody on December 4, 2020. 

Chennai: A former Indian Air Force (IAF) sergeant who went absconding from police custody after murdering his wife and two children were found after 11 years of exile. The ex-IAF officer was accused of murdering his wife and children to marry another woman in 2008. 

According to a report on Indian Express, the accused Dharam Singh Yadav was arrested again from a northeastern state. He was reportedly married again to a woman he met on a matrimonial site and had two other children.

On October 19, 2008, Dharam Singh who settled in Bengaluru after his retirement murdered his first wife and two children aged 14 and 8 years by slitting their throats. Later, he removed gold ornaments from them to confuse the police but the cops zeroed down on him for the murders.

The police then arrested him and he served two years prison term. However, while he was serving his remaining jail term, he complained of stomach ache and was taken to Victoria Hospital for treatment. However, he threw chili powder on the cops and escaped from the place on December 4, 2020. 

After this, the police tried to trace the accused but he was untraceable. 

However, currently, the police based on the investigation with the accused found that Dharam Singh lived in Ateli Mandi town in Haryana with different names and ran a liquor shop with a license using someone else's details. 

During this time, since his second relationship with another woman broke up, he looked for brides on matrimonial sites and got in touch with a woman from Nellie. 

He then married her and settled in Nellie. The Deputy Commissioner Of Police (South) talking to Indian Express said that their team arrested him from Assam. They decided to look out for him after they updated the database and his details came up for committing major crimes in the city.

Dharam Singh Yadav joined IAF in 1897 and retired in 1997 following which he was got married to Anu Yadav and started living with her. Yet, he created fake profiles on matrimonial site and became friends with his second girlfriend. Following this, he decided to kill his wife and children since he thought they will be a hurdle in the relationship.
